This place is fantastic! Sure, it's pretty much just the basics, but that's part of its beauty. My friend and I set up a tent in the front yard and I awoke to the sound of the cows mooing across the street. Winshields is also within walking distance of the Twice Brewed Inn and The Sill.

Fantastic place to camp, especially if you are walking Hadrian's wall path. Plenty of space for tents in a peaceful location. The showers were amazing and there was a shared indoor area we could use which was very useful as the weather was bad. The owner was very friendly. The pub was in easy walking distance down the road and did great food.

Fantastic camp site near Hadrians Wall with local sites including Sycamore Gap. Our host Malcolm was so accommodating & positioned us in a flat position in an open field with unbelievable views! We have a tent-box roof tent and he was happy …

Wow. What an amazing campsite. This place is brilliant for both the customer service from the owner as well as the facilities available. After realising me and my partner had left our tent poles at home and needed to go back to Carlisle to pick up another tent the next day, the owner couldn’t have been more accommodating! The barn was a pleasure to sleep in. As well as this there were great tea and coffee making facilities that I haven’t seen at another campsite since. As well as this I also made some great conversation with other Hikers and Travellers that I haven’t experienced anywhere else. The man in charge of this campsite knows what he is doing and deserves a massive pat on the back.

Left the Hadrians wall path to stay here . Lovely pitches , some slightly slopped , warm showers , well stocked kitchen of equipment for meeting people and sharing a kettle boil together . Charging points with a honesty pot . Lovely host . Pub up the road with a selection of food and ales . After all that , it was good to walk back up to the windshields trig point for the views and rejoin the route .

Best campsite I stayed at along Hadrian's Wall. Beautiful location, friendly owner and many facilities on the terrain available. Hot showers, and a room to sit in away from the rain with kitchen included available to all guests

Absolutely smashing place! Lovely scenery, very good pitches, hot showers, community room and kitchen! Caters more to hikers with tents and small vans, bigger motorhomes might have problems navigating the farm. Perfect place to hike the Wall, the highest part ist right behind the farm, 40 min walk to Sycamore gap. Oh and the 16th century fort rest on the farm is worth mentioning too!😉

Gorgeous campsite with amazing views, really nice facilities and a great base to go walking or to the museums. Only 7 minutes walk to the pub! Malcom was a wonderful, friendly and helpful host who made everything so easy and enjoyable. Would love to come back! 10/10, thanks for having us!

A nice campground close to the Hadrian's wall were we did just walk in without booking in advance. There is a kitchen you can use with a kettle, fridge, plates and cutlery. The toilets and showers were very clean. The farmer who ownes the camp was very friendly and gave us some advices for accommodation along the Hadrian's wall path.

Beautiful campsite with a fantastic owner! Facilities were ideal - toilets, wash area, kitchen for hot water/fridge/refreshments like coffee/teabags... It even had an inside seating area! Midges were pretty bad as the campsite is sheltered, so I would definitely recommend some midge repellent to avoid being eaten alive. We walked from the hadrians wall path, so it was very easy to find. Would definitely come back!
